Help us choose our Local Charity of the Year 2026!

To nominate a charity, comment below with your chosen organisation.
Our 2026 Charity of the Year will receive:
  • Four free commercialisation pitches
  • Use of our present-shaped donation box
  • Social media coverage across our channels
  • All donations from the Father Christmas meet & greet
Nominations close at 11:59pm on 21st January 2026. The three charities with the most nominations will go through to a final public vote—watch our social media for updates.
T&Cs apply. Previous winners are not eligible for five years, helping smaller charities benefit in a meaningful way.

 

 

 

Terms and Conditions
  1. This competition is promoted by Marketgate Shopping Centre.
  2. Nominations must be for a registered charity or not-for-profit organisation that operates within the local community.
  3. Charities that have previously been selected as Marketgate’s Charity of the Year are not eligible to be nominated again for a period of five years from their winning year.
  4. Marketgate reserves the right to request proof of charitable status.
  5. To nominate, participants must comment on the relevant Marketgate Shopping Centre social media post with the name of their chosen charity.
  6. Only one nomination per comment will be counted. Multiple comments nominating the same charity are permitted.
  7. Nominations open on 14th January 2026.
  8. Nominations close at 11:59pm on 21st January 2026.
  9. Nominations received after this time will not be counted.
  10. The three charities receiving the highest number of valid nominations will be shortlisted for a final public vote.
  11. Details of the final voting process will be shared via Marketgate’s social media channels.
  12. Marketgate’s decision regarding eligibility and voting outcomes is final.
  13. The selected Charity of the Year 2026 will receive:
    1. Four free commercialisation pitches within Marketgate Shopping Centre (dates and locations subject to availability).
    2. Use of Marketgate’s present-shaped donation box for agreed fundraising initiatives.
    3. Promotional support across Marketgate Shopping Centre’s social media channels.
    4. All donations collected during the Father Christmas Meet & Greet event (subject to event going ahead).
  14. Marketgate reserves the right to amend, suspend or withdraw this competition at any time without prior notice.
  15. No cash alternative is available.
  16. By taking part, participants agree to these Terms & Conditions.
